Kabras, KCB set up Enterprise Cup final date
Defending champions Kabras Sugar and KCB will meet in the final of the Enterprise Cup after winning their semi final fixtures in contrasting fashion on Saturday 1 June 2024.
Kabras reached their fourth successive final after making light work of 25 time winners Nondescripts, posting a huge 54-8 win in Kakamega.
Ntabeni Dukisa converted Barry Young’s brace to give Kabras a 14-0 lead and it was 21-0 after Dukisa converted Ephraim Oduor’s try. Nondies would score eight unanswered points from Frank Mwauganga’s try and Valentine Etyang’s penalty to bring the score to 21-8 before Humphrey Asirikwa touched down with Dukisa converting to give the three time champions ( 2019, 2022,2023) a 28-8 lead at the break.
The sugarmen would score four second half tries through Jackson Siketa, Biden Hayo, Teddy Akala and Young with Dukisa securing three conversions to confirm the result.
While Kabras strolled to victory, KCB had to fight for their berth in the final.Their 32-18 win over Kenya Harlequin did not come easy. They found themselves trailing 0-15 against their visitors at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka. Harmony Wamalwa drilled over a penalty for a 3-0 Quins lead before converting Paul Mutsami’s try after Albert Alela’s unconverted effort.
The bankers, winners in 2004, 2007, 2015,2016 and 2017, scored two tries through Michael Wamalwa and Darwin Mukidza with Elvis Namusasi adding two conversions and penalty to give them a 17-15 lead at the break.
Austin Sikutwa’s try after the break took KCB 22-15 up before Evin Asena’s penalty brought Quins to within four points of their hosts, the scores 22-18 at this point. Sikutwa then landed his brace, Namusasi adding a conversion and penalty to seal the win and a date with their eternal rivals next weekend at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.
