Waweru’s Hot Streak Continues with Player of the Month Nomination
Harambee Stars prospect Wilson Waweru has been nominated for the Soccer Writers Ireland / SSE Airtricity Player of the Month – July Award.
Fresh from winning the Sligo Rovers July Player of the Month Award, the highly-rated striker will be hoping to bag another accolade.
“It’s a great achievement to be named Player of the Month for sligo rovers. I’ve been working hard all year and it’s a pleasure as it gives me a boost in confidence for the following months and knowing that my contributions to the team are making a difference on the pitch.” He told Passion Sports.

Other nominees for the award are Dayle Rooney (Bohemians), Kameron Ledwidge (Shelbourne), Waweru’s teammate at Silgo Rovers Ollie Denham, Cathal O’Sullivan (Cork City) and Douglas James-Taylor (Drogheda United).
Waweru has cumulatively scored eight goals so far this season (Cup and League) and provided a single artist. He has never featured for Harambee Stars but has made his desire to represent Kenya at the international stage public.
