Paris 2024: Malkia Strikers defeated by Poland in second Olympics match
Malkia Strikers faced another defeat at the 2024 Paris Olympics, losing 3-0 to Poland in their second Group B match on Wednesday evening at the South Paris Arena 6. The Kenyan team fell with scores of 25:14, 25:17, and 25:15.
The Kenyan girls showed similar issues as in their first match against Brazil, losing points due to poor service and reception, and struggling with blocks. Despite a strong start in each set, they couldn’t maintain their momentum, and Poland pulled ahead.
In the first set, Kenya led 3-1 but couldn’t sustain their lead, allowing Poland to pull ahead and win 25-14. The second set was Kenya’s best, clawing back from a 2-0 deficit to keep the score close at 17-12. However, Poland finished strong to win 25-17.
The third set started poorly for Kenya, trailing 5-0 and then 7-1 before narrowing the gap to 7-5. Despite their efforts, Poland maintained their lead and secured the set 25-15.
Poland’s win follows their 3-1 victory against Japan, reinforcing their position as a strong team in women’s volleyball. Kenya’s next match is on August 3 against Japan.
