Lethal striker Nick Kirui is optimistic about clinching the Division Two top scorer award for the third consecutive season while guiding Marafiki FC to earn promotion to the third tier.

Kirui, an alumnus of Kamusinde Boys’ High School, began his football career there before joining Chemoge United, Bungoma, and later Falcon FC in Nakuru in 2018 and 2019. In 2020, he made a significant move to Marafiki FC in the FKF Division Two Eastern Zone.

Before the start of the 2023/24 season, Kirui briefly joined Police Youth FC under coach Alfred Omino but returned to Marafiki FC, affectionately known as the “Red Ants,” after just three months. Known as “Mt Elgon’s finest” among Nyeri residents, Kirui has been the top scorer for two consecutive seasons.

In the 2021/22 season, he netted 28 goals, followed by an impressive 31 goals in the 2022/23 season. Currently, he leads the top scorer chart with 26 goals, aiming for his third consecutive top scorer title.

Marafiki FC is at the top of the table, needing just one point in their upcoming match against Embakasi United on Sunday 4th July, to secure a spot in the FKF Division Two Eastern Zone promotion playoff.

In an exclusive interview with Passion Sports, Kirui expressed his confidence in leading Marafiki FC to promotion.

“I am ready to guide my team to FKF Division One. This time, we have improved in all aspects, including defense and striking. We have conceded few goals in Zone B and will approach the playoff matches as finals,” he said.

Regarding his future, Kirui remains optimistic, noting that several clubs have already reached out to him.
