Nairobi County Allocates Ksh 238.9 Million in Supplementary Budget for Sports Infrastructure
The Nairobi County Government has announced the approval of an additional Ksh 238,941,221 in its 2023-2024 Supplementary Budget to enhance its sports infrastructure. This new funding is set to complement the previously approved budgets for various sports projects across the county.
The total combined budget for these projects now stands at Ksh 628,941,221, up from the initial Ksh 390,000,000. This substantial infusion of funds aims to expedite the completion of ongoing projects.
Among the key projects is the rehabilitation of the iconic City Stadium, which has received a supplementary allocation of Ksh 80,937,684 on top of its initial Ksh 248,000,000 budget. The County Government reports that 80% of the rehabilitation works, including plastering of the seating terraces and installation of new electrical and water networks, have already been completed. However, the County confirmed that it does not have the title deed for the land where the stadium is located.

The Kwa Reuben Playground continues its construction with an initial budget of Ksh 20,000,000, while the Mwiki Stadium project has seen its budget increase by Ksh 20,504,521, bringing the total to Ksh 84,504,521.
