Gad Mathews Returns as Gor Mahia Departs for Cairo
Gor Mahia departed for Cairo, Egypt on Thursday, where they will face Al Ahly SC in the CAF Champions League round of 32 return match on Saturday at Cairo International Stadium.
Experienced goalkeeper Gad Mathews is back in the team for the must-win match against the record-holding and defending African champions.
The former Kariobangi Sharks keeper missed the first leg, which K’Ogalo lost 3-0 at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday, largely due to defensive and goalkeeping errors.

Once the first-choice keeper for the Kenyan champions, Gad has spent the past season as backup to Kevin Omondi, with fans questioning the decision. After missing several trips, Gad’s inclusion in the squad—following Omondi’s shaky performance last weekend—suggests a potential return as the starting keeper.
Fullback-turned-winger Bryson Wangai has also made the trip. The Strathmore University student appears to have impressed new coach Leo Neiva with his hard work behind the scenes.
Meanwhile, Congolese striker Gedeon Bandeka remains sidelined and has yet to make his debut. Signed from Rwandan side Entincelles, Bandeka watched from the stands last weekend.
