CECAFA WCL: Kenya Police and CBE Clash in High-Stakes CAF Women’s Final
The 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League Cecafa Zonal Qualifiers culminate today, with Kenya Police Bullets facing off against the Central Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) in the final.
In a repeat of the Group A fixture, the Bullets will attempt to make history by becoming the second Kenyan club to lift the coveted regional trophy, following Vihiga Queens’ success in their debut appearance.
CBE has been unfortunate in the past, having twice lost in the final—first in the inaugural edition against Vihiga Queens, and again in 2023 against JKT.
Bullets head coach Beldine Odemba is optimistic that her team is ready to avenge their group stage loss to CBE.
‘We are hoping to take the cup home. Most of the players were participating in the tournament for the first time, so we had to work on their psychological readiness. Technically, they know what they are doing and understand our tactical expectations,’ Odemba said.

CBE’s coach, Gizaw Birhanu, is determined not to settle for anything less than silverware.
‘This is a very important final for us because we are playing at home. We need to be very organized and make sure we take our chances,’ Birhanu said.
In their respective semifinals, Bullets defeated Simba Queens, while CBE eliminated Uganda’s Kawempe Muslims to secure their places in the final.
CBE will rely on the lethal Senaf Waquma to lead their attack, while the Bullets hope that Rabecca Okwaro and her teammates have the Midas touch in the final.
The match kicks off at 1400 Hrs East African Time at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa.
