AFCON2025Q: Ghost Mulee’s Three-Step Guide to Harambee Stars’ Success

Kenya’s Harambee Stars will kick off their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign against Zimbabwe at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Kampala, Uganda, on Friday.

Due to the lack of an approved stadium in Kenya, the crucial home game for the Stars will be hosted in neighbouring Uganda.

Kenya is pooled alongside giants Cameroon, Namibia, and Zimbabwe in Group J of the qualifiers and will face the Warriors of Zimbabwe and Namibia during the September window.

Former Harambee Stars coach Jacob “Ghost” Mulee has advised the team to ensure they win all their home games and secure at least one draw away to qualify for Morocco in 2025.

“As much as we’re playing our home games away in Uganda, we must make sure we win all of them,” Mulee told Passion Sports.

The former Tusker FC coach also urged the team to avoid making excuses. “The team is very good. I have confidence in them, and they should go out there and fight without giving any excuses.”

Finally, Ghost called for full focus from the team. “The players should fully focus on delivering on the field. Distractions off the field should be avoided, whether about bonuses or allowances.”

Mulee’s advice comes on the back of a strong track record against Zimbabwe, where the Stars have won seven, drawn four, and lost just once in their last 12 encounters.
