Kenya Police FC Face Tough Test Against Zamalek SC in CAF Confederation Cup

Kenya Police FC faces a crucial challenge against Zamalek SC in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup Round of 32. The match will be held at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday, kicking off at 8:00 p.m. (EAT).

The game will take place without Zamalek’s notoriously passionate fans, as the club is currently serving a four-game ban imposed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) due to crowd trouble.

Kenya Police FC aims to overturn a narrow 1-0 loss from the first leg in Nairobi last weekend, with hopes of securing a historic spot in the group stage of the competition—marking their debut at this level.

Club chairman Gideon Munga Nyale remains optimistic about their chances of upsetting the defending champions on their home turf.

“It was just a game of football. They were fortunate to win, but come Friday, we’ll claim victory,” Nyale confidently stated.

Zamalek’s lone goal in the first leg came from a well-timed Abdallah El-Saied strike, assisted by Ahmed Mustafa Zizo. The away win gave the White Knights a valuable advantage heading into the return leg in Cairo.

However, Nyale remains undeterred, adding, “When we defeat them in Cairo, we will go on to be the champions of the Confederation Cup. No team will stop us.”

Kenya Police FC faces a daunting task against a seasoned Zamalek side known for their strong home form. Yet, the Law Enforcers can take heart from their determined performance in the first leg, and they have the quality to spring a surprise.

The squad includes experienced internationals such as full-back Abud Omar, midfielder Kenneth Muguna, and goalkeeper Francis Kahata. Captain Musa Mohammed and Francis, both former Gor Mahia players, bring additional experience at this level and will be pivotal in leading the team.

Assistant coach Anthony Kimani will be in charge for the match, as head coach Salim Babu lacks the required CAF coaching badges to oversee the game.
