Harambee Stars defender Johnstone Omurwa has now officially joined Saudi Arabian second-tier side Abha Club, as we at Passion Sports exclusively reported recently.
Omurwa was present with the team yesterday, though he did not feature in their 1-0 victory over Al-Bukiryah. The Kenyan international is expected to make his debut in Abha’s next league match against Al-Taawoun, a club that previously housed Kenya Police FC defender David “Cheche” Ochieng. The fixture is set for 25th September.

Omurwa’s transfer to Abha has been further confirmed through an update on his transfer market profile, which shows he joined the club on 11th September. The former Wazito and Mathare United player has been without a club since July, following the expiration of his contract with Portuguese side Estrela de Amadora.
Despite potential moves to Tanzanian, Israeli, and Cypriot clubs falling through due to wage demands, Abha has agreed on personal terms with the highly-rated defender. His absence from Kenya’s AFCON 2025 Qualifiers was a result of his focus on finalising the transfer.
Abha, relegated from the Saudi top tier last season under former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane, is aiming for promotion back to the Saudi Pro League. Alongside Omurwa, the club is also expected to announce the signing of an unnamed Nigerian midfielder.
