Kenya Drawn in Group A for CECAFA U-20 AFCON Qualifiers

Kenya has been placed in Group A for the upcoming CECAFA U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, which will be held from October 6-20, 2024, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The draw, conducted on Thursday, September 12th, places Kenya alongside hosts Tanzania, Sudan, Rwanda, and Djibouti. Group B consists of Uganda, South Sudan, Burundi, and Ethiopia.

The tournament will see the top two teams from each group advance directly to the semi-finals. The two best-performing teams from the competition will earn spots at the U-20 AFCON tournament, set to take place next year.

Yusuf Mossi, the CECAFA Competitions Manager, confirmed the participation of nine Member Associations, with Somalia and Eritrea being the only absentees. The last zonal qualifiers in 2022 saw Uganda defeat South Sudan 2-1 to win the tournament, held at Sudan’s Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman, Khartoum.

The matches will be played at the Azam Complex and KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.
