3K FC Signs Goalkeeper Brian Wanyonyi Marani After Stellar Season with Bungoma Superstars
Newly promoted National Super League (NSL) side 3K FC have signed goalkeeper Brian Wanyonyi Marani from third-tier club Bungoma Superstars, Passion Sports can exclusively reveal.
Marani is the fourth player to be signed by the Francis Chege-led team, following the arrivals of Stephen Orare, a defender from Tanzanian side Fortune Gates FC and Silibwet Leons FC; 17-year-old wonderkid Glenkeline Githinji from Kahawa Pride FC; and Barbra Mlewa Mwatete from Thika-based Capwell United.
Marani joined Bungoma Superstars three years ago from Bungoma Stars, but the 2023/24 season was his best, as he clinched the Golden Gloves award after keeping 21 clean sheets in 30 matches, conceding only 13 goals throughout the season.
The custodian announced his departure on his Facebook page, expressing gratitude for his time with Bungoma Superstars. “As I prepare to bid farewell to this wonderful team, I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible journey I’ve had here at Bungoma Superstars Football Club. It’s been an honor and a privilege to work alongside every one of you,” Marani stated.
Coach Chege, speaking to Passion Sports, explained the reasoning behind Marani’s signing. “He is a good shot-stopper with leadership qualities, intelligence, and the confidence to build play from the back,” he said. “I’m confident he will advance to Kenyan Premier League within a season. Every coach and team aims to go a step higher after each season.”
3K FC earned promotion to the NSL after emerging as champions in the FKF Division One Zone A 2023/24 season with 60 points, finishing two points ahead of runners-up Fortune Sacco FC.
