CAFWCLQ2024: Police Bullets to face formidable Simba Queens in CECAFA Zone semifinal
Kenyan representative Police Bullets FC will take on Tanzanian side Simba Queen in the Semifinal of the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA zonal qualifiers on Monday, 26th August 2024, at Abebe Bikila stadium.
Police Bullets advanced to the semi-finals despite going down 2-1 in the hands of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) in the final group stage match played Thursday afternoon.
The reigning Kenya Women’s Premier League (KWPL) champions proceeded to the semifinal as runners-up in group A with four points after a goalless draw with Yei Joint Stars and a 1-0 win against Rayon Sports while CBE topped with nine points.
The Semifinal will see Bullets come one-on-one with six Kenyan players who will feature in the Simba Queen’s side, including Harambee Starlets’ Corazon Aquino, Elizabeth Wambui, Jentrix Shikagwa, and Ruth Ingosi.
The Tanzanian champions Simba booked a spot with 7 points despite 2-2 draw against PVP Buyenzi in their final match.
The host CBE faces Ugandan Kawempe Muslim ladies in this second semifinal at the same venue, kawempe closed group B in style after a 10-0 win over FAD of Djibouti on Friday.
The two winners from the semifinal will meet in the final on Thursday for a chance to represent CECAFA in the CAF Women’s League
