AFC Leopards will play an international friendly match against Ugandan side Express FC in Kampala.
Scheduled for Friday, August 16, 2024 at newly refurbished Nakivubo Stadium, the game marks Express FC’s shift to the facility as their home stadium.
In a press statement, Express FC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Miiro Ashraf, said the club has made a decision to shift their base from Wankulukuku to Nakivubo Stadium for the 2023-25.
“As we look forward to the future, we have made the difficult decision to move to Nakivubo Stadium for the 2024 2025 season. This decision has not been made lightly, and it is part of our broader strategy to grow and reach new heights. We hope to continue receiving your support and understanding as we embark on this new chapter,” Miiro said.

The stadium was under renovation since 2017 and was officially unveiled on June 1, 2024.
The works included a massive face-lift that entails an all-seater facility, VIP executive box, a newly laid astro turf, lavish dressing rooms, a modern fully stocked gym, boxing docket, netball courts, basketball court, boxing arena and state-of-art floodlights.
Nakivubo War memorial stadium is now a 25,000 seater facility that will be able to host domestic and international sporting events.
Meanwhile, Leopards continue with their preseason in Kakamega County, and will play a series of friendlies before they crossover to Uganda.
To start with, Ingwe have lined up a warm up against FKF Div 1 side Bungoma Stars on Wednesday at Mumias Complex.
Tusker FC, another FKF Premier League side, are already in Uganda and played a friendly against Uganda Premier League side Bright Stars winning 1-0 on Tuesday.
