The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Division Two Eastern Zone promotion playoffs have narrowed down to six contenders after a full season with six pools and 90 teams.

Six teams who emerged top of their respective fourth-tier zones will battle for a chance to move up to the third tier. Royal Fresh FC, Marafiki FC, Kangemi Allstars, Strathmore University, Githurai AllStars, and Embakasi AllStars qualified from zones A, B, C, D, E, and F respectively.

Royal Fresh FC outshined last season’s (2022/23) runners-up Segera FC, securing 67 points against 62 to clinch the Zone A title. They wrapped up the season with a 6-1 win over Limuru Olympics at Kiriti ground.

Githurai AllStars dominated Zone E, clinching the title with 69 points, well ahead of second-place Karatina Homeboiz who finished with 53 points. Githurai AllStars showed great improvement from last season when they finished third. They sealed their position with a 3-2 victory over Victor Faith FC on Saturday.

In Zone B, Marafiki FC had to wait until the final day of the season to be crowned champions in a tight race against neighbors Rware City FC. Rware City needed to win by more than 10 goals and for Marafiki FC to lose, but this did not happen. Marafiki FC won 2-1 against Embakasi United, while Rware City FC drew 0-0 with Gituru FC.

Two teams from these six will earn direct promotion to FKF Division One Zone A. The playoffs will determine which clubs will join the third tier next season.

The FKF Division One Zone A consists of 16 teams across the Nairobi, Coast, Central, and Eastern Regions. Last season, two teams (3K FC and Fortune Sacco FC) were promoted to the National Super League, while three teams (Olympics Pirates, Malindi United, and Simba Apparel) were relegated.

The five slots for the FKF Division One will be filled as follows: the Northern and Eastern zones will each produce two teams, and the fifth slot will go to Kajiado FC, who were relegated from the National Super League.
