Kenyan international Johnstone Omurwa has officially parted ways with Portuguese top-tier side CF Estrela Amadora SAD following the expiry of his contract today, 30th June 2024.

The club announced his departure via their social media platforms, marking the end of his nearly two-year stint with the team. Omurwa joined CF Estrela Amadora on August 27, 2022 and played a total of 25 games until his departure.

Omurwa’s exit has sparked interest from various clubs, notably Tanzanian giants Simba SC, who had identified him as their top priority signing for the upcoming season. The Dar es Salaam-based club, eager to bolster their defense with an experienced center-back, had engaged in negotiations with the player and his representatives. However, credible sources  reveal that the deal has fallen through due to financial disagreements. Omurwa’s camp reportedly demanded a package beyond Simba SC’s budget.

Currently valued at approximately Ksh 69 million by Transfer Market, Omurwa’s next move remains uncertain. As a free agent, he is expected to attract offers from several clubs across different leagues, given his proven track record and valuable experience in top-flight football.

CF Estrela Amadora SAD expressed their gratitude towards Omurwa for his contributions and wished him success in his future endeavors. Fans and teammates alike have taken to social media to bid farewell to the Kenyan defender, reflecting on his impactful presence both on and off the pitch.

As the transfer window progresses, football enthusiasts will keenly follow Johnstone Omurwa’s next steps in his professional career, anticipating where his journey will continue.
