Tusker FC stormed back to the top of the FKF Premier League standings after a hard earned 1-0 win over Ulinzi Stars in Dandora on Saturday afternoon. It wasn’t their best day out on the pitch under sweltering heat conditions on the turf, but the brewers did just but enough to get across the line.

Ulinzi should have killed the game early withs everal scoring chances going begging especially in the first half, but Tusker stepped up in the second 45 to ensure they got the most important result that took them to 36 points, three ahead of second placed Police FC who play Mara Sugar away on Sunday.

“It was a tough game for us, but ultimately we showed character to get the win. It doesn’t matter sometime whether scrappy or beautiful, what matters is the three points in such tough games. The best thing is that we also kept a clean sheet,” Tusker coach Charles Okere said after the game.

Chrispine Erambo put up a man of the match performance on top of scoring the lone goal that gifted Tusker the win.

Erambo rose above his marker to nod home a brilliant delivery from Dennis Wankjala’s corner. Though the Ulinzi backline cleared the ball, it had already crossed the line.

The brewers should have made it 2-0 few minutes later when Wanjala picked up substitute Eric Baleecho with a peach of a through ball, but the winger’s shot on the half volley was saved by the Ulinzi keeper.

The Soldiers had dominated the opening half and had several chances at goal, with Brian Opondo doing well to save a shot each from Brian Kafero and Enosh Ochieng.

In the opening half, George Kaddu almost scored with a worldie of a freekick from almost 40 yards out, but the ball greased the crossbar.
