Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere is optimistic his team can pick a fifth win on the bounce, when they take on AFC Leopards at the Dandora Stadium. The brewers have been on the resurgence, picking four wins on the trot and are high in confidence ahead of the Ingwe game.

They come up against a limping Leopards, the side having won just one of their last five matches.

“This will be a very tough game because AFC is a very good side with an experienced technical bench. I believe we have to be ready for a huge game and the players know what is expected of them. We have been boosted in confidence because of the wins we have had and the only thing now is to build on the confidence,” said the coach.

Tusker had started the season on a low, struggling in the first six matches before they picked up with a decent run. In two matches, they led 2-0, but lost 3-2 to Kariobangi Sharks and drew 2-2 with Kakamega Homeboyz.

Okere, who has been recently confirmed as the club’s new head coach after starting off as interim, says the players and technical bench had a meeting to try balance the ship.

“We spoke at length and everyone was made to understand what it means to play for Tusker FC. We decided to turn things around by approaching issues differently and we have seen the fruits. Now we have to remain consistent and continue grinding results,” added the coach.

A win against Leopards will potentially push them top of the table, if leaders Bandari and KCB drop points.

Leopards meanwhile, are keen to bounce back to winning ways after last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Kakamega Homebvoyz. Interim coach Fred Ambani believes they have worked to correct weak points and will be ready to charge on the brewers.
