No team has managed back-to-back wins after two rounds of the 2024-25 FKF Premier League season, signaling what could be a tough campaign ahead.

AFC Leopards, Mara Sugar, and Tusker FC all began with victories on Match Day 1 but were defeated in their second outings.

Leopards, coming off a 4-0 thrashing of promoted Mathare United, were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Posta Rangers. Meanwhile, Mara Sugar, another promoted side, fell 1-0 to Bandari FC after a strong 3-0 win against Kakamega Homeboyz in their opener.

Thirteen-time champions Tusker FC were unlucky in Dandora, where Kariobangi Sharks edged them 3-2 in a thrilling encounter. The Brewers had opened their season with a narrow 1-0 win over Sofapaka.

Sofapaka, popularly known as Batoto Ba Mungu, have endured a tough start to the season, losing their second game 1-0 to FC Talanta — the first FKFPL team to be coached by a woman.

Leopards coach Tomas Trucha blamed his team’s defeat on their lack of sharpness in attack. “We had a lot of chances, a lot of corners and free-kicks, but we failed to utilize them,” he lamented.

Determined to bounce back, Trucha added, “Whoever we play next, we must win. Leopards are a big club, and we will respond in our next game.”

In the meantime, defending champions Gor Mahia and FKF Cup winners Kenya Police FC have yet to begin their league campaigns. Gor Mahia have been representing the country in the CAF Champions League, while Kenya Police FC have been busy with the CAF Confederation Cup.

Gor Mahia suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to African champions Al Ahly SC, just a day after Kenya Police fell 1-0 to Egyptian giants Zamalek SC. Both games were held at Nyayo Stadium.
