Thunder’s Etyang delighted with BAL experience, hopes for more
Nairobi City Thunder point guard David Etyang has described the feeling of playing in the Elite 16 of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) qualifiers as a dream come true, and says it has given his career a new birth.
Etyang was part of Thunder’s squad for the Elite 16 in Nairobi which they won to qualify for the final tournament of the BAL, as part of FIBA’s requirement to have at least one Under-21 player in the team.
“To be honest it has been a surreal period and time for me. This is like a dream and a dream come true. As a player you always want to compete at the highest level and this was it for me. It is a great feeling not just to be part of the team, but to be part of history. This is a story that will be remembered for years to come and my name will be right in it,” Etyang said in an interview with Telecomasia.
He believes he is now a better player, and hopes the experience can inspire him to take the next positive step in his career.
“This is a massive boost definitely. In terms of confidence and motivation, it has worked magic. I definitely am more ambitious now and I believe that if I can put in the work, I can take my career to the next level,” he added.
