Keeper Katasi with day to forget as Leopards thrashed by Talanta
Keeper Humphrey Katasi had a day to forget with several haulers and a substitution as AFC Leopards suffered a 4-2 thrashing at the hands of relegation fighting FC Talanta in Dandora. Katasi, stepping in for the absent Levis Opiyo was substituted midway into the second half after his error led to an FC Talanta goal.
Leopards had a good start to the game and broke the deadlock after just 11 minutes when Boniface Munyendo slapped the ball home from close range after the Talanta keeper’s block from Clifton Miheso’s one on one effort fell into his path.
But, Talanta levelled just three minutes later when Kevin Odongo curled a brilliant freekick over the wall with Katasi well beaten.
After 18 minutes, it turned into a goalfest when Talanta scored the second goal, Alex Kipruto scoring the first of his two of the evening when he tapped from close range after Katasi spilled Enock Machaka’s shot.
AFC’s day turned from bad to worse in the second half, just four minutes in when Emmanuel Osoro scored the goal that would drop the hammer on Katasi. The keeper took too long with a bnackpass, Osor stealing the ball and walking it into the net with his backside.
Talanta were 4-1 up after 58 minutes when Kipruto completed his brace with a shot just inside the box after a poor clearance from an AFC defender landed on his path.
Maxwell Otieno scored a late consolation for AFC in the third minute of added time, but the damage was long done.
