Gor Mahia appoint Croat Sinic as new coach
FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia have appointed Croatian tactician Sinisa Mihic as the club’s new head coach, finally finding a replacement for Brazilian Leo Neiva who was fired early into the new season.
Mihic was officially unveiled by the club on Monday morning, putting pen to paper in the presence of the club’s chairman Ambrose Rachier.
Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno, who was in acting capacity after the firing of Neiva will now drop back to assistant, alongside Michael Nam, with the new boss starting work immediately.
The 48-year old will have his work cut out in the second leg of the league, with Gor struggling to catch up with the league leaders, and pressure on their title defense mounting.
K’Ogalo are currently placed third in the Premier League standings with 31 points, six behind leaders Police FC, but have one match in hand. They have been struggling to pick results recently, and had to score a 98th minute winner over the weekend in their 2-1 victory over Posta Rangers.
The Croat comes in with modest experience. Mihic joins Gor after a very short stint with four-time Kuwaiti Premier League champions Al Samiyah SC where he worked as an assistant coach.
The UEFA Pro License holder has also coached Kuwait’s Al Fahaheel (2014-2016), Al Shabab (2019-2020),and Croatia’s NK Crikvenica (January 2021-June 2021).
