CAFWCL: Simba Queens Advance to Semis with Kenyan Trio’s Heroics
Kenyan trio Elizabeth Wambui, Jentrix Shikangwa, and Vivian Corazone shone brightly as Tanzania’s Simba Queens thumped Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies 3-0 in the ongoing Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zone Qualifiers on Wednesday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
After a goalless first half, Vivian Corazone broke the deadlock in the 64th minute with a well-taken strike. Five minutes later, Shikangwa doubled the lead with another impressive goal. Wambui sealed the convincing win with a third goal in the 75th minute.
The three Kenyans have now scored two goals each, having opened their accounts in their first Group B game, which they won 5-0 against FAD Djibouti on Monday.

Simba Queens have secured a spot in the semifinals with a game to spare against PVP Buyenzi FC of Burundi, who have yet to register a win in two games.
Meanwhile, Kenya’s representatives, Kenya Police Bullets FC, return to the field on Thursday for their final Group A match against hosts CBE WFC.
CBE WFC tops the group after two wins and, like Simba Queens, have already secured a semifinal spot. Kenya Police will need to step up their efforts against this formidable opponent to progress. An outright win would see them through, though a draw might also suffice.
Police can also rely on South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars FC losing or drawing against Rwanda’s Rayon Sports Women FC to advance.
The FKF Women’s Premier League reigning champions started their campaign with a disappointing goalless draw against Yei but bounced back with a 1-0 victory over Rayon Sports in their second fixture.
