The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has officially announced that twelve teams will compete in the 2024 CECAFA Kagame Cup.

This year’s tournament will take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from July 9 to July 21. Matches will be hosted at the Azam Complex in Chamazi and the KMC Stadium in Kinondoni.

The tournament draw is set for July 3, 2024, at the Azam TV studio in Dar es Salaam. Azam TV is among the event’s key partners.

“Although we initially planned to include 16 teams, we had to reduce the number and adjust the dates due to some challenges. Nevertheless, we believe this tournament will provide our teams in the Zone a good platform to prepare well ahead of the 2024/2025 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup,” said CECAFA Executive Director John Auka Gecheo.

He also noted that the Zambia Premier League Champions, Red Arrows FC, will be the only guest team participating in the tournament.

The twelve teams will be divided into three groups of four. The top team from each group, along with the best runner-up, will advance to the semi-finals.
