New Gor boss Mihic ready to make maiden bow in FKF Premier League

Newly appointed Gor Mahia head coach Sinisa Mihic says he is excited to make his maiden bow in the FKF Premier League, as the reigning champions take on Mathare United in the Croat’s first match in charge Sunday evening.

Mihic was appointed to the hot seat at Gor earlier this week, putting to an end Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno’s interim reign after the club fired Brazilian Leo Neiva.

Mihic has taken the team through the last three days of training, and says he feels ready for the first game despite having little time to know all the players.

“Day by day, everything has been getting better and we have prepared well. For now my focus is getting to know the players individually through the help of my staff and of course we need time to know them better. But now we are working on team structure, the philosophy as well as playing style,” the coach said speaking to the club’s official channels.

Despite not knowing much about the opponents of the day Mathare, the coach will rely heavily on the information from his assistants Otieno and Michael Nam, to prepare the perfect strategy for the game.

He finds Gor six points behind leaders Police FC, but they have played a match less.

“For me what is important now is winning every game ahead of us. I don’t want to think much about the number of points between us and the leaders. We will play our best to win then we see where we are at the end of the season,” the coach said.

On the kind of players he finds at the club, the coach said; “I am very happy with the players I have found here. They are very good, very competitive and dynamic. My work now is to improve them in all aspects.”
