Defending champions Gor Mahia have scaled up to fifth in the FKF Premier League standings after thrashing Ulinzi Stars 3-0 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, in a rescheduled fixture. Samuel Kapen, Rooney Onyango and Austin Odhiambo scored the goals as K’Ogalo bounced back to winning ways.

The 21-time champions had been on a tough run of two losses and a draw, but the victory which takes them to 21 points, three shy off the top, eases pressure on their shoulders.

Kapen opened the scoring for K’Ogalo in the 23rd minute with a delightful finish at the backpost after Levin Odhiambo’s cross found him unmarked.

They went to the break with a 2-0 cushion, Rooney scoring the second in the second minute of added time. The wingback flicked the ball beyond keeper Ricks Odhiambo after Shariff Musa’s nifty touch off Austin’s low corner took the ball off the Ulinzi defense.

K’Ogalo sealed the victory in the 67th minute from the penalty spot, Austin rolling the ball home after Shariff had been appended inside the box.

Meanwhile in the early kick off, Police FC picked their fifth straight win, new coach Etienne Ndayiragije continuing working his magic. Police edged out FC Talanta 1-0, to move to third in the standings with 23 points, just one behind leaders KCB.
