Kenya Police FC will be seeking to leave a footprint when they take on Zamalek SC in the CAF Confederation round of 32 fixture at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday.

Playing at this stage for the first time in their nascent history, the Law Enforcers have the odds against them, but coach Anthony Kimani remains positive.

“They have been around for a long time and they’ve made a mark in African football, but we also feel this is a good opportunity for us, in as much as we’re young, to announce ourselves at the big stage,” Kimani, who will be on the touchline in place of head coach Salim Babu, told Passion Sports.

“I think we have the quality to help us do just that,” Kimani added, while banking on the experience of individual players like Francis Kahata, who played in Gor Mahia’s famous 4-2 win over Zamalek SC in 2019.

Police also have international players within their ranks including Abud Omar and Kenneth Muguna who recently featured for the Harambee Stars in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

On his part, Zamalek SC Portuguese coach Jose Gomes is planning to play an open and entertaining game against, contrary to the belief that they’re coming to waste time.

“I love football. I love to see my players play good football. I love it when we entertain fans who come to the stadium and those who watch on television, and if we do it with confidence, we’ll get the result we want,” Gomes said.

The coach does not think that high altitude in Nairobi will affect them. “We’ve traveled a lot in Africa and adapted to many conditions.”
