Stanley Wilson Finally Set to Sign AIK Contract After Long-Awaited 18th Birthday
Harambee Stars prodigy Stanley Wilson is set to sign a professional contract with Swedish top-tier side AIK when he turns 18 on Wednesday 21 August.
The former Kariobangi Sharks midfielder has already impressed the club during trials and has been patiently waiting to ink this potentially life-changing deal to turn professional.
“It’s a big day, yes. I am happy because I will sign a professional contract. It is a big step from playing football in Kenya. Now I am in Europe, and I am very grateful. I hope it will be a great journey for me. I like everything about AIK: the fans, the association… I really love being here! Now I turn 18 and get the chance to show what I’m capable of,” the player told Fotbol Sthlm.

Speaking to the Swedish publication Aftonbladet in February, AIK Sporting Director Thomas Bernsten, after watching Wilson participate in a couple of training sessions in Marbella, Spain where he was on trial, said that he “was very impressed” with him, adding that he wants to sign him at AIK “as soon as he turns 18.”
Spotted during the 2023 U18 CECAFA Championships, which Kenya hosted in Kisumu and Kakamega, the former Darajani Gogo player revealed what has endeared him to AIK.
“AIK is a family. No matter what happens, we are a family. Everyone is caring and nice, the fans are great. I like everyone at AIK.”
He has outlined his ambitions for AIK, setting his sights on winning the league.
“I feel motivated. Nobody’s trying to bring me down; everybody’s trying to lift me up. My ambitions for my AIK career are crystal clear. I want to be in the team when we win the Allsvenskan, join and play in the cup during the pre-season. I just want to win something with AIK.”
