Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has released the much awaited fixtures for the 2024-25 season.
The new season is scheduled to kick-off on Saturday 24 August 24 with nine fixtures, six of them televised live by Azam TV and KBC TV, on the cards.
It will be curtain raised a week earlier with the FKF Super League clash between record league champions Gor Mahia and Kenya Police FC, who won the FKF Cup last season.
AFC Leopards will be up against returning Mathare United as part of match day one fixtures at Dandora Stadium.
Meanwhile, defending champions, and Ingwe nemesis, Gor Mahia, will be on the road at FC Talanta at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos a day later.
The two rivals will lock horns in the first leg of the Mashemeji Derby Mashemeji Derby on Sunday, November 24, 2024 with the return match set for Sunday, April 6,2025.
Newly promoted Mara Sugar’s first taste of the topflight action will be against Kakamega Homeboyz FC with the fixture booked at Awendo Green Stadium in Migori County.
The Green Stadium was home to defunct FKF Premier League outfit Sony Sugar FC. National Super League side Migori Youth FC have also used it to host high risk games.
If last season is anything to go by then here are some of the fixtures fans can look forward to get maximum entertainment: Kenya Police FC vs. Kariobangi Sharks, Kariobangi Sharks vs. Mathare United and Mathare United vs. Kenya Police FC
Last season’s league champions Gor Mahia pocketed Ksh. 5 million. This has not changed. The champion also represents the country in the CAF Champions League.
Despite growing calls for the league to be trimmed to make it more competitive and commercially viable, the 2024-25 season will keep the 18-team format.
At the end of the campaign, two bottom-placed teams will be automatically relegated with equal numbers promoted.
