The Kenya National Women’s Volleyball Team, Malkia Strikers, arrived safely in Manila, Philippines on Monday for this year’s Challenger Cup. The team will play against Puerto Rico in their first match on July 4, 2024.

Despite a 10-hour flight delay at JKIA, Nairobi, the team is now settled in their official accommodation at the Diamond Hotel. They are eager and ready to compete as per Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) President Charles Nyaberi.

Leading the team is the talented Left Attacker Veronicah Adhiambo Oluoch, who plays professionally in Greece. The squad also includes professional Sharon Chumba, skilled Setter Esther Kamene Mutinda, Captain and Centre Blocker Trizah Atuka, and experienced libero Agrippina Kundu, among others.

The coaching team is led by experienced Coach Japheth Munala, with assistance from Coach Josp Barasa, Trainer Jannet Wanja, Technical Coordinator Paul Bitok, and Manila-based FIVB Level 3 Coach Godfrey Owese Okumu, who will also serve as the team guide.

The Challenger Cup is an excellent opportunity for the Malkia Strikers to prepare for the Paris Olympics. In the lead-up to the Olympics, the team will train and acclimatize at the TEAM KENYA Camp in Miramas for three weeks.
